HOBART — "Abortion, it's a Woman's Right to Choose" proclaimed a banner raised by pro-choice activists during the screening of an anti-abortion video at Tasmania University on September 5. Chanting overran the video and sparked a debate with the organisers, Students for Christ.

SYDNEY — The Middle East Action Coalition held a conference on August 31 as part of the international effort launched by former US attorney general Ramsey Clark to investigate possible war crimes by the US and its allies during the Gulf War. Spokesperson Diana Ingram stated that the main purpose of the conference was to "wake up the media to the truth of the war and to inform the Australian people".
