"When we go surfing we feel freedom and peace, we feel our hearts are relieved."
- Mohammad Abu Ghanim, Gaza lifeguard
Join us for our first 'Films for Palestine' screening at the Margaret River Men's Shed, where we will be showing the 2016 documentary 'Gaza Surf Club'.
Gaza Surf Club is a documentary film from Little Bridge Pictures, which follows several surfers from Gaza and documents their efforts to surf and survive. The film takes a "day in the life" approach and showcases the stories of members of the Gaza Surf Club community who use the ocean as a way of mentally escaping the violence and oppression of the Gaza Strip.
We will be gathering at 6:30pm to meet and greet. Please BYO nibbles and drinks.
The screening will begin at 7pm, and should end at 8:45pm.
All proceeds of the event will go to Gaza Sunbirds who are a para-cycling group in the Gaza Strip who prepare and distribute parcels of essentials to those in Gaza.
To cover the costs of venue hire, we will be asking for a $5 contribution upon entrance. Complimentary admission for all First Nations and Palestinian attendees
