More than 200 people rallied for LGBTIQ rights in Brisbane on June 25 in the face of threats by the Labor government to bring back a version of the former Coalition government鈥檚 religious discrimination bill.
The international swimming federations聽ban on trans women in elite sport was challenged. 鈥淒o you think this will stop at elite sports?鈥� one speaker asked. 鈥淒o you think this will stop at sport?鈥�
Speakers also highlighted the United States Supreme Court鈥檚 decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling, thereby withdrawing constitutional abortion rights.
Speakers noted that the far right鈥檚 attacks on the rights of trans people is a mobilising call to launch attacks on a much broader range of human rights.
