Webinar: Advocacy on campus

Conferences & public forums
Online

When

6:00pm Wednesday 04 June

Why

As part of the Australian Festival of Democracy and Human Rights, join the Australian Democracy Network for a timely conversation about advocacy and democracy on campus.

Despite their long history as hubs of protest movements, universities in Australia are now tightening the reins on campus dissent. What role does campus advocacy play in our democracy, and how do we respond to restrictions to student and staff social justice movements?

Join us for an insightful discussion as we unpack the shifting role of universities in relation to protest and explore what this means for the future of free expression and our democracy.

Speakers:

  • David Mejia-Canales, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre

  • Dr Nick Reimer, former President of the University of Sydney Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)

  • Student speaker °Õµþ´¡ï»¿

  • Anastasia Radievska, Protest Rights Campaigner at the Australian Democracy Network.
