Evening Gathering for World Habitat Day - Part of the 2025 Nature Festival South Australia
Step into a unique and powerful evening blending ecology, culture, and solidarity, as we mark World Habitat Day with a focus on one of the most biodiverse and lesser-known places on Earth: West Papua.
Hosted by the Australian West Papua Association of SA and Conservation Council of SA this experience curates a range of local, interstate and international speakers, storytellers, and artists sharing knowledge and lived experience. A visual and sensory journey through West Papua’s landscapes and biodiversity. Reflections on habitat loss, cultural resilience, and what solidarity looks like.
This event will bring together Indigenous communities from across Australia and the Pacific, alongside organisations focused on climate action and environmental justice. It aims to shine a light on link between various habitats (urban and remote), the impact of resource extraction (particularly in West Papua) and the threat of rising sea levels to Pacific nations such as Tuvalu, Kiribati, and the Torres Straits.
