About 100 people joined a rally outside the United States聽Consulate to protest the country鈥檚 role in generating war and devastation across the globe. Kerry Smith reports.

Solidarity activists who recently returned from a fact-finding missions to Venezuela reported to a meeting organised by the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign (Melbourne) and the Latin American Solidarity Network (LASNET) on March 27.

Several activists involved in the protests against the International Mining And Resources Conference (IMARC) 2018 last October had their homes raided and searched by Victoria Police on January 18. They were arrested, detained and interrogated and had phones, computers and other belongings seized.

More than 100 people attended public forums discussing the crisis in Venezuela and the need for solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution against the threat of violent right-wing opposition in Geelong and Melbourne on July 28 and 29.

鈥淭he life of a trade unionist in Colombia is very difficult and complex鈥, visiting union leader Edgar Paez told 麻豆传媒 Weekly. Paez said 4000 unionists have been murdered in Colombia in 28 years. 鈥淟ast year, 47 unionists were killed, 48 the year before. Union leaders need armed guards, bulletproof cars, camera surveillance and bulletproof windows on their offices. 鈥淭hey lose the possibility of a normal family life.鈥
